FAQ's

What conditions does Functional Medicine treat?

Functional medicine can be used to address a wide range of health conditions, including chronic diseases, metabolic disorders, mental health issues, hormonal imbalances, digestive dysfunction, allergies and sensitivities, neurological conditions, environmental toxicity, and more.

Is Functional Medicine evidence-based?

Functional medicine integrates the latest scientific research and evidence-based practices while incorporating alternative and complementary therapies proven effective through research and clinical experience.

Will my health insurance cover Functional Medicine services?

Although we are not in-network with any insurance plan, some Functional Medicine assessments, labs, and treatments may be covered by your insurance. Upon request and following your office visit, we can provide a detailed itemized superbill that you may submit to your insurance company to request reimbursement. I have chosen not to accept insurance because it places limitations on the assessments and treatments I may use, and I do not want to limit my ability to serve my patients’ needs. Insurance is designed for sick care and benefits by keeping patients sick. I prefer to work in wellness care to help my patients get well.

How long does it take to see results with Functional Medicine?

The time it takes can vary significantly depending on several factors, including the nature and severity of the health condition being treated; the underlying root cause(s); individuality such as genetics, lifestyle habits, diet, stress levels, and overall health status; the treatment plan; consistency and adherence. While some individuals may experience noticeable improvements relatively quickly, it's important to note that most symptomatic conditions do not develop overnight and won’t go away overnight either. Therefore, it is important to approach Functional Medicine with realistic expectations and a commitment to long-term health and wellness. Patience and collaboration with a qualified Functional Medicine practitioner are key to achieving the best possible results.
